TheRibbonThatTiedItAllTogether

365 days have passed since 2013 started. Makes sense I guess. So many things have happened through out last year. Of course, everyone in the world can say that about every year, but I really had an adventure. It felt like forever, but we were at Malaysia last Summer, a camping trip, being an only child for 8 months, GED, SAT, and Christmas.

My family 'celebrated' my birthday in Oahu at a hotel! This was a really great year. The thing is that we are still in the awkward stage of moving off this rock. I don't mind. Take your time parents!

School has turned into a chore that I don't necessarily have to do, but should still do. Since I sat for my SAT (weird pun thingy there) and my GED I technically 'graduated'. Though my mom still says I need high school transcripts.... Pfffft, community college will let me in without a problem. My future is still uncertain, but that's okay. I know that wherever I end up is where I am supposed to be. I never would have thought the SAT would have been such a challenge. I really thought I knew a lot about the world at the beginning of the year. A typical naive teen-aged tool shed. The SAT really humbled me. I got a mediocre score that showed me that I only know a tiny sliver of the world's knowledge and that there is much more to learn and experience. But! The GED recovered some of my confidence since I aced it with flying unicorn colors.

The world can seem like a cracked-up women sometimes.

The trip to Malaysia alone can take up most of this post, but I wont do that. I'll sum up the entire trip in three words: yummy, family, food, yummy, and lots of food...... Wait I think that was more than three words....

Yep, a lot has transpired, but the big question for everyone isn't recollections.

Have I matured? Have I gained wisdom and knowledge? How has my walk progressed with God since the beginning of the year?

All those questions should be answered. Whether the answer will be bad or not. My maturity level has increased. I can say that confidently. Just recently I learnt something that I will have to work on probably for the rest of my life. Understanding. But not just understanding intellectually, understanding other people. I always considered feelings as nothing more than chemical reactions that people chose to feel. But that isn't the case.

As we can see from many sources, life sucks 90% of the time. Some people have terrible lives right from the get-go, fairness is nothing but a figment of our imaginations. Some people are orphans, others have no one that loves them or to love, unexpected deaths of our close ones, betrayal, disease, amputations, miscarriages...... All these horrible things that no one should have to deal with. But alas, a lot (if not all) people experience at least one or more of these things through out their lives. The thing is that I have never experienced any of these things. I have been a little sheltered rat since birth. Therefore, ever since just a little while ago I viewed things like depression, hatred, and grudges as things that people chose to do and feel. Boy, was I stupid.

There is a world out there with so much sorrow. Thank God that I have yet to experience true pain and suffering, but that doesn't mean other people aren't experiencing it. I am not saying that I have learnt to pity people. Pitying somebody is probably the worst thing you can do. The only thing you can do is be understanding. I always dismissed people with emotional problems as weak and cowardly, but there are things in this world that no one can bear. That's why we have Jesus. I just pray that people will run to Him when pain strikes us where it hurts the most.

Wisdom is just a word. What does it mean to me, though? Discernment is probably a good start. Being able to draw the line on most matters. Grey areas in life are the worst. Is it okay to watch rated R movies? Are girlfriend and boyfriend relationships good? How does one go about being 'holy'? Wisdom comes from God so we just have to abide in Him. Another great way is by listening to teachings of someone who is abiding in the Lord. But have I gleaned anything this past year that would increase and strengthen my wisdom? I think so. All of those hard hitting philosophical questions are easily answered when you are a Christian. The Bible really is the gateway to infinite knowledge and wisdom. And I will be spending the rest of my life trying to absorb it all. Since January 2013 I can say that I have grown mentally. For the year ahead I will probably need an extra serving of wisdom since I will be hitting that magical age of 18.

Growing in the Lord is something every Christian does for their entire life. I have still neglected my daily devotions. Prayer is easily forgotten. Thankfully we found an amazing church at the beginning of this year. The pastor's messages have really ministered to me. I must accept that I am an imperfect being. Every good work I attempt will end in absolute failure. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit within me can I achieve any sort of good work. It has been a challenging year. I still struggle with the fact that I am sinning and will continue to sin to the very day I die. It's just who I am. I am a sinner. I will never accept that fact, but I must realize it. You shouldn't let that discourage you! Jesus died and rose from the dead so that we can be free. I am free. But my old nature is still very much alive. The war is won, but the battles shall continue. I will win some and I will lose a lot, but as the picture slowly zooms out I can see the beauty that is called my life.

Have an awesome 2014 Dear Readers. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy lives to read my blog. I ask for you to remain with me and my blog till the very last post. Here's to another exciting year.

HappyChristmasAndAMerryNewYear

It feels like Christmas was just last year..... Ahhhh, what a time it was back then. But I am sure this Christmas will be just as great. After all, this is the last Christmas that we will spend on this rock. It is still hard to believe, but I believe it. Things change. After 15 years of the same things I figure a change this drastic will probably be good for my health. Mentally and physically.

So how is everyone's Christmas turning out? I know we still have a couple of days to go, but you can kind of tell if you are going to have a great Christmas or not by now. Sick? Tired? Someone die? (Okay that was kind of tactless) All these questions must be answered before you can have a Happy Christmas! Presents are great and all, but if there is just one family member missing can you really call it a Happy Christmas? There is nothing like a day where the family can sit and talk about life. I always see family slowly come apart when parents pass away or when siblings move away and start a family. Well, not for me! No matter what changes I pray that we will still come together and celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years together every year.

A family that sticks together their whole lives is the best.

Of course! Jesus is still the reason for the season. Let's not forget what He has done and IS doing. He came for one reason. It's really comforting to know that even if you lose EVERYTHING there will always be Him. Lose your family? Job? Rational reasoning? Doesn't matter. You still have Him. And that's awesome.

Whether you are spending Christmas with your loved ones or by yourself. Have a Happy Festive Christmas. Thank Jesus for your life, for all the good and bad things. Forgive your close ones, mend the hurts, give generously with a cheerful heart, and eat a lot of good food!

Oh! And share the greatest Story ever told and will be told. The one about a Man that gave up perfection for un-perfect things like us.

ALieEveryoneIsInOnExceptMe

The time of year where snow falls and people take out the parkas from the dusty box at the back of the closet. A time of year that I have never experienced. The falling of snow, the cold nights, the warm fireplace, and the ever present duty that every young man must perform for the sake of the family: shoveling the snow. All these glorious moments have never been more than a trickling fantasy. A dear longing; [my] hopeless, extended hand reaches after this glimmer of cloth, praying for the day I will be able to partake in at least one of these lofty moments of joy and comfort. Alas, it is all for naught! For the hand slowly shrivels into a lifeless heap of flesh and then, in turn, morphs into a serpent that commences to consume my mind and soul......

Wow, that got morbid pretty fast....

Ahem!

Christmas! Snow! Gifts! And! (If you are like me) EEEEYYSSSZZZZUUUUSSSS!!!

I might not scream His name out like a (dirty) Mexi-

Hey, you know me by now. Racism is obviously not an issue with me. In fact, most days I actually don't mind Spaniards..... Ah! Who am I kidding? Ahahahaha.

Alright, please don't leave. That joke was in bad taste.

Christmas is here! A time to rest, spend time with family, and exchange gifts filled with tears and love. Man, that was beautiful..... But we must first remember what Christmas is REALLY about. It was originally a pagan celebration tha-..... Hmmm.... That didn't go in the direction I wanted this post to go....

Let's start over.

I still have yet to commence with the shopping of the gifts for my beloveds. Which isn't really a big deal. I mean, last year I received 0 presents. Yup, as my family partook in the happiness that they received from others I sat there in loving envy and hatred.

"Surely you jest, Missingnomer, loving hatred? That's like saying you are famous, but nobody knows it."

"What if I was famous-incognito and YOU didn't know?"

"You make no sense, bro."

"Pfffttt, you are saying I don't make sense? Ha! Go milk snail, then talk to me."

"I did already."

                                                                                     ~Larxus Monogram and Missingnomer

Don't cry for me, Dear Readers. My parents quickly came to my rescue! I obtained a lovely bottle of shampoo a month later!...... Ohhhh, ohhhhhhhh. Sorry, I guess you can cry for me.

All jokes aside, I really enjoyed last Christmas. It just goes to show that presents aren't everything. Just having the Elder Sages back is the only gift I need. I can't wait to do a bunch of fun things with them. Christmas has always pulled through for me every year. Nobody has to work, everybody is eating, and ugly Christmas sweaters are exchanged. It really is a special time of the year. The thing is that there is a very high chance that this is the last Christmas that my family will spend here. Though I have said that a few times in my life, I somehow believe it this time. This truly will be our last Christmas on this rock.... Wow... That's so.... Wonderful.

Dreams do actually come true.....

MyTake - Frozen AndTheAfterMath

Yes! I watched a kid's movie by Disney with my mom! If movies of exceptional quality come under the genre of "kid's movies" then sign me up as a little kid! Disney has always had a high standard for itself. It really set the bar with amazing movies like 'Mulan', 'Beauty and the Beast', and 'Aladdin' You would think that the glory days of Disney has passed long ago, but I beg to differ. The movie 'Tangled' in particular renewed my interest in Disney movies in 2011 when I finally watched it at home. Now it has been two years and Disney has produced yet another movie about a Princess (Or should I say Princesses) and the high standard has been reached, topped, and slammed to the ground.

Frozen is just as (Or dare I say it....BETTER?!?!) than the cornerstone Disney movies like 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Lion King.' Yup, I said it. It is just that good. The songs, the characters, the romance, the comedy, the drama.... Get the idea? Everything was great. Everything was right. Everything just worked. A kid's movie? Nah, I would just classify this movie as an instant classic that I would love to watch with my family and future family.

Disney, keep the awesome work up. I hope you guys keep cranking movies with this exceptional quality. Studio Ghibli, move aside, Disney is in town and it is taking the spot of best animation studio yet.

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I enjoyed a relaxing day with a fantastic turkey meal topped off with plenty of leisure. Nothing but food and snooze. It was great. Can't wait for the return of the Great Elder Sage siblings. Yeah, I know. Time flies fast. I can't believe it has already been four months. I'd like a quote from the timeless classic, "Rising of the Second Moon":

"Return ye learned ones froM the great bowels of the deep. Return unto thIne youngeSt SeIf. CliNG to him and beg mercy aNd rest, sO that he May grantEth thee passage into the solace of thy foRmer bedroom."
~Chapter 3 Passage 10 Clause 6 from "Rising of the Second Moon"
