WhyDoesThouLoveAnime?

I think a lot of people who ever heard of the word "anime" simply brush it off as a term used for Japanese cartoons....Which is 100% accurate, but anime has the potential of being something more than just a cartoon. You see, with American cartoons as we know them now (Adventure Time and Spongebob to name a couple) have a bottleneck. They can only reach a certain quality that only appeals to young children 95% of the time. But with anime we have this huge world were we can find many shows and movies ranging from idiotic comedies to gut-wrenching dramas. It has something for everybody; not just the adolescent.

There are just too many roadblocks to show people just how amazing anime truly is. On top of it only airing on TVs in Japan we have to translate the dialogue from Japanese to English AND some how get our hands on the anime we wish to watch. More and more questions and problems compound into this horrible mess and we find ourselves not caring anymore. But before we can even get to that place we have to first learn about anime. How did I first learn about it? From Pokemon and Naruto (Naruto being one of the few shows to make it to American TVs). How do I find anime? By spending countless hours on the internet. Is it worth it? Yep.

The reason why I watch anime is because anime is one of the few things that give me many different feelings. Whenever I finish an anime I either feel nothing or feel something. When I feel something noteworthy the anime, in my book, is a complete success. If an anime makes me feel sad, happy, comfy cozy (you know it!), etc I consider the anime to be good. I watch anime with the hopes of having my heart feeling one of the before mentioned emotions. Isn't that why we watch TV in the first place? Well, anime does an exceptional job for me in this area . Though I run into many anime shows that are duds (they didn't give me any excitement), which in that case would make the anime a complete failure.

So the point of this post is to tell you WHY anime is incredibly good and WHAT shows/movies are worth your time. You see, I do all the leg work while you enjoy some of the greatest pieces of anime deliciousness that is available! I want my Dear Readers to take part in some of the greatest stories ever told on screen! But I should clarify that anime isn't for everybody. If you don't mind reading subtitles, putting up with "fanservice", and making sure you have a good filter (e.g. the Bible) then you probably wont find most of this stuff enjoyable at all. Anime tends to have philosophies and teachings that are sketchy, but you have to be able to take that and filter it through what is true. I do that with almost everything I watch; not just anime. You should be doing that too, by the way.

I will introduce you to an anime show that I grew to love. I am not saying my Dear Readers should drop everything and watch it. This show in particular has a special place in my heart and it is a good example as to why anime is worth watching.

A short but wonderful show about a man who has to take care of a sweet girl. Pretty simple premise, but in 11 short episodes I found myself loving both of these characters very much. Most animes can only be truly appreciated if the viewer does something that I like to call "emotional investing." This is a very important step for animes like Usagi Drop. You have to enter into the world of the anime and get to know the characters personally to the point where if they are upset you feel their uneasiness and if they get sad you can taste their tears (was I too cheesy right there?). Basically, you have to have a "relationship" with the characters. When you watch the first few episodes try to look at the characters from the viewpoint of a stranger who just met them. As the anime progresses you learn more and more about the characters. By the end of the show you will find yourself experiencing the show just how it was supposed to be experienced. When I watched this anime I loved every minute of it. I found myself with that warm fuzzy feeling at the end which, like I said before, makes this anime a masterpiece in my book.

There are many other websites that have Usagi Drop episodes. Just simply google it and you should have no problems finding episodes 1-11. Hope you decide to watch it!
